What Land Rover paint is actually like
Hard European clear coat with good film build. Satin and matte finishes appear across the range and require a matte-specific coating — never a gloss product.

Matte paint must never be polished or coated with a gloss product. We use a dedicated matte-safe coating.
Track pinstriping
Hinterland and beach tracks leave fine scratches along the doors and rear quarters.
Extensive trim and cladding
Defenders have a lot of black plastic and satin trim that fades separately from the paint.
Roof rack and load-bar marks
Accessory mounting points rub through protection and eventually into the paint.
How we prep a Land Rover before coating
Preparation is the job. The coating is the last hour of it.

Full inspection under LED and swirl-finder lighting, with paint depth readings recorded panel by panel.

Two-bucket hand wash, wheels and arches degreased, badges and shuts cleaned out.

Chemical iron and industrial fallout removal, then a clay treatment to lift bonded contamination.

Tape-up of trim, rubbers and sensitive edges before any machine work.

Finish type confirmed first — matte and satin panels are cleaned and coated with matte-specific products, never polished.

Trim, cladding and accessory mounting points treated and coated separately from the paint.

Panel wipe with a coating-safe solvent to strip polishing oils and reveal the true finish.

Fireball ceramic coating applied by hand, levelled panel by panel under controlled lighting.

IR / controlled cure, then a final inspection and handover pack with aftercare instructions.
