Older factory finishes with clear coat that has already spent years in Queensland sun. Film build varies widely between panels, especially on cars with previous repair work.
What we see most on Holdens
Clear coat failure and peeling
Roofs, bonnets and boot lids are usually the first to go. Once the clear coat is peeling, a coating won't fix it — it needs paint work first.
Oxidation and fade
Reds and dark blues fade badly on horizontal panels after years of UV exposure.

Repaired panels can differ in hardness and thickness from factory paint, so correction is adjusted panel by panel.

How we prep a Holden before coating
Preparation is the job. The coating is the last hour of it.

Full inspection under LED and swirl-finder lighting, with paint depth readings recorded panel by panel.

Two-bucket hand wash, wheels and arches degreased, badges and shuts cleaned out.

Chemical iron and industrial fallout removal, then a clay treatment to lift bonded contamination.

Tape-up of trim, rubbers and sensitive edges before any machine work.

Paint depth readings across every panel to identify thin, resprayed or failing areas before any machine work.

An honest call up front — if the clear coat is going, we say so rather than coat over it.

Correction adjusted panel by panel to suit factory and repaired paint separately.

Panel wipe with a coating-safe solvent to strip polishing oils and reveal the true finish.

Fireball ceramic coating applied by hand, levelled panel by panel under controlled lighting.

IR / controlled cure, then a final inspection and handover pack with aftercare instructions.
